Analyzing propagation delay, transmission loss and signal to noise ratio in acoustic channel for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks

Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) find a wide variety of applications like underwater monitoring & exploration, tsunami and other storm detection, oil field monitoring, oceanographic data collection etc. All these applications need the observation of the various ocean characteristics. The paper includes the performance analysis of different characteristics of underwater acoustic communication like propagation loss, transmission loss, spreading loss, absorption loss, signal to noise ratio with variations in distance between two nodes, frequency, depth etc. The results from these observations may be used to construct an accurate underwater communication model.
