DS1103 real-time operation and control of Photovoltaic fed unified power quality conditioner

The unified power quality conditioner is an efficient power device which plays active role in elimination of various power quality issues in the power system. Although voltage sag, swell and current harmonics are dealt by UPQC, voltage interruption issues are remaining unsolved. This paper proposes the photovoltaic source integration to the grid through the UPQC. Conventional Photovoltaic grid integration schemes are inefficient to deal with all power quality issues. The present scheme eliminates the limitation of conventional PV grid integration and UPQC performance. Real-time implementation of the PV-UPQC scheme has been developed in the laboratory. Hall Effect sensors are built and DS1103 controller has been used for control algorithm implementation. Experimental results are analyzed for efficient PV-UPQC operation.
