Design, simulation & optimization of 3D low-loss asymmetrical Y-branch optical power splitter on SOI platform

A novel design of single mode rib structured asymmetrical straight, straight and s-bend Y-junction optical power splitter is proposed. It is designed by cascading an asymmetrical rib structured 1×2 straight, straight and s-bend optical power splitter. Simulations were carried out by using 3-D beam propagation method at 1550nm. In this paper power analysis of the power splitter was done in TE and TM polarization mode. All simulations are done using R-Soft BPM software. We have studied different asymmetrical configurations to minimize loss for slab height of the device. Which has many uses such as low loss, simple structure, easy fabrication and easy to find loss measurement of the device.
