Fly-by-wire flight control smart optical rotary sensor for aircraft

In this work, a smart optical rotary sensor for a fly-by-wire (FBW) control system of airplanes is proposed. Different parts of the sensor - rotary encoder, shaft, optical systems, electrical circuits, and micro-controller - can be packed into a single housing. Replacing analog sensors currently used in FBW control system by smart sensors results in an integrated and lighter aircraft.
