Fuzzy logic controlled wind turbine emulator (WTE)

This paper presents the realization of wind turbine to test its characteristics at the laboratory level using separately excited direct current (DC) motor. The wind profile which almost imitates the actual wind speed during transients is applied to the developed Wind Turbine Emulator (WTE). The DC motor images the wind turbine characteristics in the transiet regio of wind by applying the controlled input voltage to DC motor by using the Fuzzy Logic (FL) controlled DC-DC converter. The rule base for the Fuzzy controller is developed in this paper. Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) proposed in this paper is sensitive to applied wind profile and is observed to be tracking the actual wind turbine characteristics.
