Experimental Demonstration of a Tunable Load-Limited Magnetically Insulated Transmission Line Oscillator

The experimental results of the tunable load-limited magnetically insulated transmission line oscillator (TLMILO) are presented and discussed in this paper. In the experiments, the microwave frequency of the TLMILO can be changed arbitrarily in the range of 1.337-1.760 GHz by changing the tuner, and the tuning bandwidth is 13.6%. The experimental results show that the normal relative error of the frequencies between the measured result and the simulation result is not more than 1.6%, the tuning mechanism does not affect the MILO's normal operation, and the maximum power efficiency of the TLMILO is 15.2%. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the TLMILO.
