Use of mathematical programming to optimize effectively-memoryless bandpass nonlinearities

This paper addresses problems of synthesizing effectively memoryless bandpass nonlinearities to reduce jamming (interference) and intermodulation effects that occur in satellite and terrestrial communications. Instead of using classical calculus to synthesize (i.e., to optimize) effectively-memoryless bandpass nonlinearities, a different approach is described to formulate synthesized problems as modern optimization problems that can be solved with the use of a digital computer and existing mathematical programming algorithms. As an illustrative example, the paper shows how the problem of optimizing an FDMA/SCPC transponder is formulated as a set of four linear programming problems and solved using the revised Simplex method.
