Correlation properties and performance evaluation of 1-dimensional OOC's for OCDMA

An optical orthogonal code (OOC) is defined as collection of binary sequences with good auto and cross-correlation properties. Unlike bipolar code having correlation sidelobes and cross-correlation function close-to-zero, for OOC's the best correlation sidelobes and cross-correlation function is one, which means that no distance between the positions of ones in the code are repeated. In this paper, we generate an OOC's based on combinatorial construction method given in literature and verify with Matlab, the auto and cross-correlation properties of these codes, we also evaluate the performance (BER) of the OOC's for a typical OCDMA system.
