The effect of V/sub 2/O/sub 5/ on the sintering of NiCuZn ferrite

Various amounts of vanadium pentoxide (V/sub 2/O/sub 5/) were introduced to the NiCuZn ferrite to reduce the sintering temperature. The V/sup +5/ cations entered the crystal lattice of the ferrite and improved the initial permeability and quality factor, 0.5 mol% of V/sub 2/O/sub 5/ was required to form the liquid phase for enhancing the densification of this composition at 875/spl deg/C. However, the grain boundary phase deteriorated the magnetic properties of the material.
