Split-step quasi-spectral finite difference method for nonlinear optical pulse propagation

Using finite differences with quasi-spectral properties, a new split-step method with optimum complexity for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation is presented. For accurate simulations of large WDM systems, substantial speed-up factors over the split-step Fourier method are obtained.
