Modulation of 10.6-micron laser readiation by CuCl

Electrooptic properties of cuprous chloride (CuCl) have been measured at 10.6 µ. The measured electrooptic and absorption coefficients were 3.2×10

m/V and 0.02 cm
^-1
, respectively. These results indicate that CuCl will be used as a low-loss electrooptic material at 10.6 µ as well as in the visible range.
