Nonlinear components in optical disk signals: analysis and compensation

We analyzed the reasons for nonlinearity in readout signals from optical disks, considering the contributions of both write and read processing. We applied the results of analysis in a method that eliminates nonlinear effects. We found that multipulse write waveforms and adaptive write control eliminate the effects of nonlinear components in the case of isolated marks and series of marks, respectively.
