Shallow-air saturation dive in the high Arctic

In May 1974, personnel from the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Memorial University of Newfoundland, conducted a shallow air saturation dive under the ice at Resolute, N.W.T. This dive was an extension of activity currently being conducted at the L.O.R.A. - I habitat in Newfoundland, and was made in conjunction with the MacInnis Foundation Arctic IV Expedition. This paper briefly describes the dive objectives, procedures and accomplishments and makes recommendations concerning the feasibility of future application of similar techniques to support shallow commercial and scientific programs in the Arctic.
