Reliability Study of TDoA-based Emission Localization in Using Simple RTL-SDRs

Interference causes the information carried by the frequency not to be recognized as correct information. The frequency monitoring system is strictly implemented to ensure that interference does not occur across the country. Recently, this massive task has still been carried out based on human expertise, which tends to cause errors due to the human capacity of the operator. In this paper, we present our proposal regarding a frequency sensor that is not only able to recognize the presence of emissions, like a spectrum analyzer but more than that, the sensor can predict the position of the emission source. Prediction of the position of the emission source will be carried out using the passive radar method with the HyperbolaTDoA (Time Division of Arrival) algorithm. The sensors are 3 integrated radios that each radio consists of RTL-SDR with Raspberry Pi as a processor, a GPS module as an external accurate timer, and a whip VHF/UHF antenna. The results of this reliability study show quite reasonably that the system could be developed for real radiolocation for monitoring systems.
