Research on Influence of Structural Size Parameters on Magnetic Field Characteristics of Coil Type Vacuum Interrupter Contact Gap

For the purpose of obtain the impact of structural parameters on the gap’s magnetic field characteristics of the 1/2-turn coil-type axial magnetic contact under the condition of large gap and large diameter, a single-factor analysis of the magnetlc field characteristics of the coiltype contact was carried out by using the finite element method. Seven structural parameters, including contact diameter, coil height, coil width, contact gep, contact plate thickness, quantity of contact plate slots and contact plate slot inclination angle, are selected to study the influence on axial magnetic field, residual magnetic field and phase difference between contacts at the current peak moment. Since each structural parameter has different effects in the magnetic field characteristics and the contact gep, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the influence of each structural parameter and determine the reasonable value of each parameter when designing a large diameter coil contact to advance the breaking capacity of the contact.
