On the Buffer-Aided Two-User Transmission over Gaussian Z-Interference Channel with Hybrid Status Update and Throughput Traffics

In this article, we consider a buffer-aided two user transmission scheme over Gaussian Z-interference channel, where one hybrid source node is supposed to transmit its randomly generated hybrid streams of status update and throughput-demand traffics to its receiver in the presence of the interference by the status update traffic of another sourcedestination pair. A long-term average weighted age of information (AoI) minimization and the weighted throughput maximization problem for the hybrid source node is formulated to obtain the adaptive transmission mode selection and power allocation scheme, both of which enable the adaptive buffer-aided transmission over the Gaussian Z interference channels. Our analysis results are presented to show that, for the hybrid source, there exists an inherent trade-off between the realized AoI performance for the status update traffic and the realized average throughput performance for the throughput-demand traffic. In addition, the minimum AoI and the maximum throughput can only be realized at a reasonable status update arrival rate. Finally, it is shown that, by adjusting the weighting coefficients of the two services, the proposed adaptive buffer-aided two-user transmission scheme can effectively coordinate different performance requirements of status update and throughput traffic for the hybrid source, so as to ensure heterogeneous traffic requirements by the hybrid source node over two-user Gaussian Z-interference channel.
