Comparative Study of Secondary Side Power Control Methods for S-S Compensation Topology in Wireless EV Charger Applications

The investigation of wireless charging systems (WCS) is more efficient compared to contact charging systems (CCS) in terms of reliability, convenience, safety, and flexibility. In this paper, the comparison of secondary side power control methods (conventional, buck converter, and bidirectional switches) for charging electric vehicles (EV) is developed via inductively coupled power transfer technology in terms of output side voltage, current, and power and input side transmitter current and voltage across the capacitor. This paper also presents bidirectional switches that improve the quality of waveforms as well as reduce the loss of energy compared to other methods, at 1.5 kW, 85 kHz, and 120 mm ground clearance. The performance of the secondary side power control methods is verified by the simulation results, and a simulation system is made in MATLAB by simulink.
