Analysis of Transient Overvoltage Mechanism in the New Energy Gathering Area at the DC Transmission End

The ultra-high voltage DC system converter station requires much reactive power consumption, accounting for approximately 40% to 60% of the transmitted active power. When DC commutation failure, DC single pole blocking or bipolar blocking occur, short-term interruption of power transmission will cause overvoltage in the AC system near the rectifier station. This paper analyzes and studies the transient overvoltage mechanism in the collection area of new energy at the DC transmission end, which is very important in the consumption and transmission of new energy and the stability of the power grid.
