Design of Orthogonal Fed Duplexing Patch Antenna for Radar Applications

This paper proposes a novel duplexing antenna design operated within the Industrial Scientific Medical (ISM) band 24 GHz for the radar system application. The design is based on half-wavelength antenna dimensions at the selected frequency, where a unique shape of the patch antenna combined with a quarter-wavelength impedance transformer and a 50-ohm feed achieves antenna matching, optimizing the overall circuit model. The design aims to achieve the cancellation of destructive interference for the dual-port and orthogonal feeding structure. Moreover, the high-isolation feature can be implemented for transceiving radar signals on the single antenna design.
