AC Power Measurement Using the Josephson Arbitrary Waveform Synthesizer

This paper develops a system using the zero-compensation (ZC) Josephson arbitrary waveform synthesizer (JAWS) to measure an ac power of 220 V, 5 A, 60 Hz and power factor of 1.0. In the structure, an inductive voltage divider (IVD) converts the voltage of 220 V to 0.44 V and a current transformer (CT) converts the current of 5 A to 20 mA. The current then flows through a shunt and produces a volage of 0.4 V. The two voltages within 0.5 V are compared with two voltages produced by the dual-channel JAWS using two voltage comparators (VCs), respectively. Preliminary experiments are conducted to validate the performance of the system.
