Cryogenic Energy Supply of Liquid Nitrogen and Superconducting Cable for Supercomputer Energy Security and Service Continuity

A new concept of cryogenic energy supply (CES) of liquid nitrogen and superconducting cable is proposed for supercomputer energy security and service continuity. The superconducting power supply can offer a feasible way to reduce the overall energy loss and save the cable installation space. The liquid-cooled server with liquid nitrogen emergency cooling can offer high-capacity high-density refrigerant to response the peak load demand under extreme or fault conditions. The overall supercomputer and local renewable features determine the actual ratings of superconducting cable and liquid nitrogen backup. The new cryogenic energy supply platform offers engineers, teachers and students a smart tool to design and optimize the high-reliability power and cooling cogeneration system in various in large-scale data centers and supercomputing building sectors.
