Enhancement of hydrophilicity and biodegradability in low-density polyethylene by atmospheric cold plasma treatment

In Korea, annual agricultural plastic waste generation amounts to 310,000 tons, with only approximately $60 \%$ being recycled. The remaining waste contributes to environmental degradation in rural areas through illegal dumping and incineration. The global agricultural film market is predominantly led by polyethylene. Polyethylene forms a stable molecular structure, making it resistant to microbial biodegradation. Therefore, for the biodegradation of polyethylene, the generation of carbonyl groups is necessary.
