Analysis of the influence of structure and assembly errors on the characteristics of armature-rail contact surface

Stability characteristics of the initial contact surface of the armature-rail are one of the conditions for high repeatability of the electromagnetic rail launch test, and the initial contact state between armature and rail is based on the interference force provided by the interference of the armature rail structure. The structural parameters and assembly accuracy of the armature rail system are important factors affecting the interference force distribution of the contact surface. In the present test, the contact characteristics will deviate from the design value due to the above error, which will affect the repeatability of the test. In order to make the test with high repeatability, this paper carries out simulation analysis on the initial contact surface characteristic deviation caused by armature structure and assembly errors, visualizes interference force transmission in armature rail system by means of armature rail force transfer paths, summarizes the system parameters that have a great impact on the contact characteristics, and accordingly gives suggestions on armature manufacturing and armature rail assembly. In addition, the characteristics of the initial contact surface are further optimized by adding a diversion channel on the armature tail surface.
