A diagnosing method for the output of a magnetron through pulse measurement

This paper presents a method for diagnosing the output of a magnetron by measuring pulses. Pulses generated by high-power magnetrons have high output and very short rising time and pulse width, making accurate measurement of these microwaves challenging. In order to measure the output of high-power magnetron, high power waveguide directional coupler has to be used. But in the paper, we proposed simple and accurate method for diagnosing the output of high-power magnetron without using high power waveguide directional coupler. We measured radiating microwave pulses through a high-power antenna to diagnose the magnetron’s output. A couple of sensors were used to measure the pulses. Additionally, the oscilloscope needs to be configured to match the characteristics of the pulses. To measure more accurated output of the magnetron, we compared the amplitude of the output varying with oscilloscope settings.
