Simulation Study on the Influence Mechanism of Temperature on Dielectric Barrier Discharge Products

Cold chain and low-temperature environments are conducive to the spread of pathogens, so disinfection in low-temperature environments is essential. Atmospheric pressure cold plasma has been proven to be suitable for disinfection in low-temperature environments, but the relationship between temperature and discharge products has not been studied. This study investigated the effect of temperature on dielectric barrier discharge products under different environmental conditions from room temperature to low temperature through simulation. The results indicate that temperature affects the discharge products by affecting the number density of atmospheric molecules and the rate constant of chemical reactions. Under low-temperature environmental conditions, the number density of long-lived active species such as ozone, nitrogen oxides, and hydrogen peroxide decreases. This study lays the foundation for evaluating disinfection effects and revealing disinfection mechanisms in low-temperature environments.
