Mossbauer study of hyperfine field distributions and spin canting in lithium-zinc ferrites

In a Mössbauer study of the system Li
0.5-x/2
Zn
x
Fe
2.5-x/2
O
4
at 4.2K and in fields up to 70 kOe the occurrence of hyperfine field HF distributions az the Fe
³⁺
ions located on B sites due to the dependence of the supertransferred HF on the number of Fe
³⁺
(A) nearest neighbors could be established. The Mössbauer spectra taken in fields parallel to the gamma-ray direction for x > 0.6 gave evidence for spin canting, the average canting angle increasing with x.
