Propagation Characteristics of Layered Bianisotropic Chiral Media Based on Transfer Matrix Method

The study employs the transfer matrix method to examine the wave propagation properties of layered bianisotropic chiral media under the influence of both linearly and circularly polarized incident waves. Based on the Maxwell’s equations and constitutive relations specific to bianisotropic media, the analysis yields four distinct wave vectors. These vectors are determined by solving the determinant of the coefficient matrix associated with the electric field components in the frequency domain. The transfer matrices relate four eigenstates in adjacent chiral media and rely on wave vectors, medium parameters, as well as ratios of E
x
to E
y
and E
z
for biaxial bianisotropic chiral media. To show the validity of the method and the program, the cross-polarized transmission coefficient of a monolayer biisotropic chiral slab is calculated and compared with the exact result. The transmission coefficients of monolayer and stratified active chiral slabs are illuminated in this study, offering valuable perspectives on the electromagnetic characteristics of complex media.
