Performance Evaluation of Reconfiguration Techniques Used to Reduce Partial Shading Losses

Exhaustion of fossil fuels and environmental damage drive the search for renewable energy options. Solar photovoltaic energy, a sustainable source, is controlled by sunlight levels. Partial shade results in reduced sun irradiation, leading to decreased power generation and multiple electrical peaks requiring advanced strategies to extract maximum power. This study compares the performance of reconfiguration methods for partial shading mitigation, including SDK, OE-TCT, LS-TCT, and TCT using MATLAB/Simulink simulation results. Performance metrics include power enhancement ratio, partial shading loss, performance ratio, and fill factor.
