An Interface Development based on Internet of Things Approach for Smart Predictive Maintenance implementation: Case of Diesel Engine

The effective functioning of diesel engines plays a crucial role in various industries, powering transportation, generators, and machinery. The emergence of smart maintenance strategies, combined with IOT (Internet Of Things), offers a paradigm shift in managing diesel engine health. Conventional methods of testing and maintaining diesel engines often involve manual interventions and limited real-time monitoring. In response to these challenges, this article presents the development of an interface, perfectly integrated with actuators for remote control of the test bench instead of the control cabin. In this way, IoT technologies will facilitate remote access, allowing operators to monitor and control diesel engines from a centralized platform. Also in addition to the sensors already integrated into the test bench, other sensors will be added to improve the data collection capabilities, thus providing a complete overview of the performance parameters of diesel engines. These sensors capture real-time data during the diagnostic, enabling continuous monitoring of critical variables such as temperature, pressure, and fuel consumption for future predictive maintenance implementation based on a machine-learning model.
