Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer with Polar Coded Probabilistic Amplitude Shaping

In this paper, we propose a new simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) scheme by adopting the polar coded probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS) framework. Here, the polar code is employed to support the reliable wireless information transfer (WIT), while the constant composition distribution matcher (CCDM) alters the distribution of channel inputs to implement the wireless power transfer (WPT). Similar to the conventional polar coded transmission scheme, we utilize the cyclic redundancy check aided (CA)-polar coded PAS scheme to improve the WIT performance. Then, we optimize the target distribution and the power splitting ratio to obtain the performance limits of the WPT dominant scenario and WIT dominant scenario, respectively. To predict the WIT performance, we present an estimated bound. Simulation results show that: 1) the proposed polar coded PAS scheme exhibits superior WIT and WPT performance compared to the time-division transmission scheme and other SWIPT schemes such as shaped polar (s-polar); 2) the simulation results can match well with the proposed estimated bound.
