Analysis of an Influence of the Colour of the Emitted Light on Dynamic Properties of Power LEDs

This paper presents the results of experimental research illustrating an influence of the colour of the emitted light on dynamic electrical and optical properties of the power LEDs. The used measurement setup and the tested devices are described. The dynamic model of a power LED is proposed. Some results of the computations and measurements are presented and discussed. The investigations are performed for 4 LEDs made by the same manufacturer, mounted in the same cases and characterized by the same maximum allowable value of the forward current. Both the turn-on and turn-off times resulting from electrical inertia are measured and discussed, as well as such times resulting from optical inertia.
