Evaluating Low-Frequency Effects of Grid Voltage Dips on the Performance of Single-Phase Boost Bridgeless PFCs

In power factor correctors (PFC), where AC conductance is influenced by the actual grid voltage, voltage dips impacting the RMS calculation strategy typically degrade PFC performance at frequencies below the nominal grid voltage. This work proposes evaluating these effects in combination with the low pass filter for extracting the RMS value using an envelope-based model of the PFC and its controller. Model predictions are compared with results obtained from the switching model. Experimental results validate the proposed modeling approach.
