Influencing Factors and Potential Early Warning for Wind-Biased Transmission Line Discharges

Transmission lines are susceptible to external environmental factors such as strong winds and ice cover. In recent years, severe weather has occurred frequently, and wind bias faults on transmission lines have occurred from time to time, causing huge economic losses and affecting normal production and life. In this paper, ANSYS Workbench finite element analysis platform is used to establish the transmission line-hanging insulator string system model. Calculations were carried out for transmission lines under different stall spacing, height difference, wind speed and wind attack angle, analyzing the influence of different factors on the wind bias of insulators, and obtaining the rule of change of wind bias angle with stall spacing, height difference, wind speed and wind attack angle. Combining the effects of wind speed and wind attack angle on the wind bias angle of insulator strings, a wind bias early warning model for transmission lines was established based on PSO-SVM, and the practical effect of the model was evaluated. The study results can serve as a guide for designing and erecting of UHV and EHV transmission lines, as well as for the early warning of wind bias.
