Bridging People and Practice: Using Design Systems to Teach Accessibility

Design systems provide a cohesive approach for designers to build, implement, and test products within a unified ecosystem that embeds accessibility throughout the design process. As such, design systems offer a unique approach to help professional/technical communication instructors teach accessibility to their students. This brief paper presents a teaching unit on using design systems to introduce accessibility to students through working with a design system, creating infographics, and revising those graphics through accessibility testing.
