Analysis of a very low-cost Coaxial-Waveguide-Transition (CWT) based on symmetric structures

This paper focuses on the simulation, manufacturing, and performance of an affordable coaxial-waveguide-transition (CWT). The study begins by constructing a model in CST Studio Suite 2022 (CST). It then proceeds to optimize an alternative impedance transformer and simulate potential influences resulting from modified manufacturing conditions. Subsequently, the focus will be on the key points in the production of waveguides using an additive manufacturing process. Following that, the metallization of this plastic made waveguide will be discussed using a copper spray. Lastly, the assembled prototypes will be measured as a pair, and their individual performances will be extracted and compared using reference measurements from commercial waveguides.
