A Comprehensive Data Collection System for Agricultural Machinery

Industrial agriculture, or intensive or modern agriculture, is a farming system characterized by large-scale mechanization and technological innovations to maximize efficiency and productivity. Modern agricultural equipment and machinery can use smart sensors and low-power wireless controllers to collect and analyze data to improve machine performance and reduce machinery downtime. Our research focuses on developing an end-to-end system capable of collecting data from the Agri-machinery and sending it to a cloud server for data analysis & presentation to the stakeholders. The paper reviews the implementation areas within the Agri-machinery, identifies suitable sensors, and discusses the sensors’ benefits and the wireless communication methods used to transmit data to the cloud. The system's hardware and software architecture has been presented, along with software features to manage the system on the field.
