Research on Optimization Methods for Multibeam Sounding Line Layout

The strategy of extensive ocean development in China is advancing, highlighting the demand for high-precision measurements in the surrounding marine areas. Submarine terrain measurement, as a fundamental surveying task, faces challenges in the accurate calculation of the overlap rate and coordinate width of survey lines. This paper proposes multi-beam bathymetric models based on plane geometry and solid geometry to address specific and general scenarios. For specific situations, the depth of seawater is calculated through the relationships of triangle edges and angles, while the sine theorem is applied to compute the coverage width and overlap rate. In general scenarios, the paper employs vector dot product operations and linear parameter equations to calculate the slope equation, survey line linear equations, and the linear equation of the outermost beam. The relationship between coverage width, distance from the sea center, and the angle between survey lines is then determined. The research findings indicate that variations in the angle between survey lines and the slope surface impact coverage width and overlap rate. This provides theoretical guidance for submarine terrain measurement, holding significant implications for the field of marine surveying and offering reliable support for marine resource development
