Utilizing Time Varying Tangent Barrier Lyapunov Function for Prescribed Performance Backstepping Sliding Mode Control Suppressing Bursting Oscillation of HTGS

Crucial for hydroelectric units, the hydro turbine governing system (HTGS) encounters multiscale coupling effects among its subsystems. Catering to the multiscale coupling effects among subsystems of HTGS, periodic variations of self-adjustment coefficients are introduced to change HTGS’s transient torque response frequency. Thus, the multiscale HTGS is established. In this paper, initially, the bursting oscillation behavior resulting from improper selection of PID controller parameters and changes in excitation frequency is analyzed in multiscale HTGS through numerical simulations. Subsequently, a prescribed performance backstepping sliding mode controller based on time-varying tangent barrier Lyapunov function (TTBLF&PPC-BSMC) is designed to suppress this phenomenon. Simulation experiments are ultimately conducted to verify the effectiveness and rationality of the proposed control strategy, contrasting it with traditional methods.
