Comparative Analysis of Conical Shapes for Acoustic-Myography Signal Reception: A COMSOL Study

Acoustic-Myography (AMG) is a technique used to measure muscle activity by capturing acoustic signals generated during muscle contractions. In this study, we compared various conical shapes to determine the optimal shape for receiving AMG signals using a microphone. Through modal analysis in COMSOL, we found that the first resonant frequency at 13,000 Hz was outside the frequency range of AMG signals (1–300 Hz), which did not affect signal reception. Subsequently, a parametric analysis was performed by varying the height and radius of the conical shape to explore all possible combinations. The goal was to identify the conical shape that best preserved the maximum amplitude of acoustic pressure during frequency propagation. Real-time signal acquisition experiments were conducted, and signal processing techniques were employed. Additionally, a database was constructed for future machine learning or deep learning applications. This article presents the findings of our research and discusses the implications for AMG signal reception.
