Monitoring Air Conditioner Malfunctions Using Power Consumption and Temperature

This paper suggests a method for monitoring air conditioner malfunctions through the analysis of power consumption and temperature. The approach involves utilizing an electric meter connected to the circuit that supplies the air conditioner, ensuring a non-intrusive setup. The meter records voltage-current values for the AC, which are then used to calculate power consumption. Additionally, room temperature is measured using a thermal couple. Subsequently, an experimental assessment of the air conditioner's condition is performed by activating the compressor for testing. Measurements are taken for both temperature and the aggregate electrical circuit that supplies power. The experimental results concerning air conditioner malfunction monitoring demonstrate distinct differences in the timing of power consumption on the compressor and off, as well as variations in temperature increase and decrease.
