Numerical Simulation on the Necking Process of Aluminum Alloy Cylinder Liner

Aiming at the problems of Large-scale heat transfer, multiple deformation passes and violent material flow in the necking process of aluminum alloy cylinder liner, the ABAQUS software was used to model and simulate the forming process. Different process parameters such as the corner radius of the spinning roller, the feed ratio, the forward spinning and reverse spinning processes were set to comparatively analyze the stress-strain field and wall thickness distribution. The results showed that with the decrease of the corner radius of the spinning roller, the stress and strain at the bottleneck increased gradually, while they exhibited a decreasing trend at the conical section of the bottleneck. The change of feed ratio had no significant impact on the strain of conical section of the bottleneck and wall thickness distribution, but a large feed ratio could reduce the strain at the bottleneck. After the reverse spinning process, the strain at the bottleneck and its conical section increased and the stress decreased, while the positive spinning process was conducive to the accumulation of materials on the surface of the workpiece, resulting in the thickening of the wall thickness.
