Analysis of Tunable THz Structure Based on Graphene Nano-Material Using Implicit Finite Difference Time Domain Method

In this paper, the analysis of a tunable THz structure based on graphene nano-material with magnetic biasing is presented. In this respect, a periodic magnetized graphene micro-patch array supported by SI0

glass substrate is analyzed by using an implicit three-stage operator splitting f nite difference time domain (3S-OS-FDTD) method. The presented splitting mechanism decomposes the system's main operator into sub-operators to isolate different characteristics of the graphene layer. The implicit scheme is unconditionally stable, where the temporal discretization is not bounded by the standard Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy (CFL) stability constraint. Numerical examples are conducted and it is observed that the transmission coeff cient of the presented graphene structure can be tuned by changing the chemical potential of the graphene and the magnetic biasing intensity, and this makes the graphene to be a good candidate in future THz communication systems and tunable devices design.
