Boolean Control for Bacterial Proliferation in Climate-Controlled Environments Expressed in Monochrome Encoding and Mealy State Machine

The growth of indoor bacteria is dependent on environmental factors such as relative humidity and temperature. Air-conditioning in closed environments tends to heighten humidity since it uses air exchange to regulate and control temperature, allowing bacteria to thrive and circulate the room. The application of digital electronics would enable the development of an economical and logic-based sensing device to reduce the growth of harmful bacteria. By implementing concepts on digital electronics and with utilization of a logic simulation software, logic circuits were designed to accept three inputs from three different sensors to alert the user when climate conditions require further regulation. These circuits were then combined and utilized to create a Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) model that senses temperature (A), humidity (B), and moisture (C) with room climate control (X) and system warning message (Y) resulted in simplified X = A + B and Y = A + B + C. The creation of the CMOS-based smart temperature and humidity sensor using Arduino was successful and it is recommended to further implement such in closed environments to evaluate applicability and feasibility.
