Application of interval multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm in reliability redundancy allocation problem

Reliability is an important factor considered in industrial system design. Adding redundant parts to the system can greatly increase its reliability, while the accompanying issues include increased system costs and weight. Redundancy allocation problem (RAP) is a problem of how to simultaneously optimize factors such as reliability, cost, and weight of a system through component selection and system structural design under given constraints. For situations where the reliability of individual components is uncertain, this paper proposes an interval multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm based on probability dominance (PD-IMOPSO). In this algorithm, a probability based interval order relationship is used to determine the dominant relationship of intervals. In addition, a crowding distance under interval conditions is proposed to measure the diversity of solutions. Finally, the effectiveness of this method is verified through an example of a supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA) for a long oil pipeline.
