Simplified SVM Strategy for Suppressing Common Mode Voltages for Modular Multilevel Converter

To solve the problem of traditional Space Vector Modulation (SVM) strategy's difficulty in extending to high-level Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC), and to suppress the common-mode voltage generated during the implementation of MMC modulation strategy, this paper proposes a simplified Space Vector Modulation (SVM) strategy based on mutated coordinate system, the boundary switching state is derived by judging the area where the space vector is located, and then the correction parameter

is introduced to correct the boundary switching state, so as to improve the speed of the strategy and complete the common mode voltage suppression. Simulation results show that the strategy is simple to implement and can suppress the MMC common-mode voltage within the minimum variation range.
