Maximum Power Point Tracking Control for Full-Speed Range Power Generation System

Wind power generation systems operate long-term in environments with random fluctuations in wind speed, unknown input disturbances, and non-zero and unmatched uncertainties. In response to this operating condition, to enhance the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) performance of wind power generation systems, this paper first introduces the overall structure and generation principles of a brushless DC wind power generation system. It establishes a mathematical model for a back-to-back inverter. Secondly, it investigates the power control of a variable-speed variable-pitch brushless DC wind power generation system across the entire wind speed range. Addressing the issue of slow dynamic response in the low wind speed range when using traditional power feedback control, an improved power feedback method is proposed to accelerate the maximum power tracking speed and improve the overall power generation efficiency. To address the problem of the inability to achieve power control through pitch control in the high wind speed range for a variable-speed variable-pitch turbine, a mechanical power outer loop is introduced to reduce the turbine speed, enabling constant power control in the high wind speed range, simulation results validate that the proposed power control strategy across the entire wind speed range exhibits excellent performance in a brushless DC wind power generation system based on a back-to-back inverter structure.
