High Voltage Gain DC-DC Converter based Maximum Power Tracking from Photovoltaic Systems for Heat-Pump Applications

Photovoltaic (PV) systems have become a crucial source of renewable energy, particularly for heat-pump (HP) applications, offering considerable potential for energy efficiency. However, energy conversion efficiency between PV panels and HP can be hampered by inefficiencies in the DC-DC converters used for power control. In this paper, a high-voltage-gain DC-DC converter is suggested to optimize electrical power from the PV systems. This converter is specifically proposed for the HP applications, where the variations of the load and temperature are frequent. The new power electronics topology offers a high voltage gain while maintaining outstanding energy efficiency. The converter components are selected to withstand the harsh environmental conditions often encountered in HP installations. Proposed system is simulated in the Matlab/Simulink environment in order to validate the analytical and theoretical concepts. Simulation results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our approach, paving the way for more efficient and sustainable PV-HP systems to meet the growing need for renewable energy and energy efficiency.
