Characteristics of Losses in Composite Material Transformer Cores

By altering the material of the transformer core, the operational characteristics can be improved. A composite material transformer core, composed of amorphous alloy and silicon steel, has been developed to harness the loss characteristics of these two materials. Previous research on this composite material has primarily focused on experimental results, with limited understanding of the mechanisms behind its composite loss characteristics. This study investigates the variations in losses of the composite material transformer core. Derivation of the calculation equations for hysteresis losses and eddy current losses in the core, which includes both materials, is presented. The changes in normal magnetic flux density at the interface of different materials are analyzed. The findings of this research provide valuable insights for experimental design of loss characteristics in composite material structures and core design.
