Theoretical and Experimental Study on the Influence of High Power on Fiber Splice Loss

In long-haul power transmission, high-power amplifiers are often used to increase transmission distance. In building communication systems, the actual fiber wiring inevitably has fiber splice points and flange connectors. Therefore, to study whether long-term coupling of high-power amplifiers into fibers will affect fiber splice points and flange connections, this paper designs corresponding experiments for research and verification. The paper adopts two types of G652B and G652D optical fibers for comparative verification. At the same time, each fused fiber has two sections, one section is located at the proximal end of the high-power amplifier, and the other section is located at the distal end of the high-power amplifier for comparative verification, exploring the impact of long-term coupling of high-power amplifiers on the loss of fiber splice points and flange connections. The experimental results show that under normal temperature and reasonable fiber bending radius, long-term coupling of high-power amplifiers into G652B and G652D fibers has no effect on the proximal and distal fiber splice points and flange connections of both fibers, nor on the splice points and flange connections of high-power amplifiers.
