Transient Analysis of Proportional-Resonant-Controlled Inverters for Dynamic Load

As a controllable power converter with fast response to dynamic load changes, full-bridge inverter has a widespread application in active bandwidth impedance matching, nonlinear load current harmonic compensation, and grid voltage sag/swell compensation, etc. As one of the main inverter control methods, the proportional resonant (PR) control can achieve zero sinusoidal steady-state error without the need for intensive reference frame transformations and enhance the converter reference tracking performance during the dynamic load variation. In this paper, an adaptive control method based on PR controller is established to investigate the dynamic characteristics of full-bridge inverters when the resistive-inductive load varies with the operating frequency. It is demonstrated that the dynamic characteristics of the inverter, i.e., settling time and overshoot, etc., can be improved by choosing suitable controller parameters and parameter adjustment time. The correctness of theoretical analysis is verified by the simulations in MATLAB/Simulink.
